If you clicked on this article, chances are you're as sick of everything going on in the world outside as me, even though you're in the ComFoRTs of you're home! Second wave? who would've guessed? Not me.
If you are overwhelmed with your work from home situation, piling assignments, family, news, neighbors, and anything in general because at this point, that is totally possible, you best believe I know what I'm talking about lol, and I DEFINITELY understand.
Sending you lots of love and this list of cute comforting movies that'll help you escape the chaos and calm your mind and anxiety because let's be real.. as of now, even a news headline can make you feel like you're in Final Destination series, let alone the movie itself. Everything is going to be alright! I promise. So take a break, pop some popcorn/ order a pizza and watch one of these.
1) Julie & Julia-
I have watched this movie thrice! The first two times were in the same week because it's just that good. It's based on real events which makes the movie all the more cuter. Meryl Streep outdid herself, she's won plenty of awards for the movie and got herself an Oscar nomination for the same. If you like cooking, Paris, NYC, food, cookbooks, writing, or even just the overall vintage aesthetic, you'll love this movie!
2) 13 Going on 30-
If you know me, you saw this one coming! The movie is about Jenna, 13, who is obsessed with becoming a woman that's "30 flirty and thriving". Her wish is granted and it's a rollercoaster of confusion, happiness, love and amusement after that. Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner are absolutely adorable in the movie. If you're into RomComs, or even if you aren't, you'll love this one for sure!
3) Kiki's Delivery Service-
It's a Studio Ghibli masterpiece to say the least. Kiki is a witch, who as per her family's traditions has to leave them when she turns 13 and visit a different world to explore her options and settle. All she has with her is a broom, tiny bag of belongings and a very sassy but caring cat. It's a fun, cheerful watch, your brain won't have to do a lot of thinking or stressing as long as you're good with subtitles, otherwise there's a dubbed version too. I was the last person to be interested in Anime, I'd drag my cousins for the same but this movie changed my mind!
4) The Terminal-
This story is based on Tom Hanks's character, A European man that gets stuck at Terminal 1 of New York's John F. Kennedy airport without his passport, papers and a battered suitcase. He stays there for days with the help of airport employees and an air hostess that he becomes friends with until he gets his documents sorted out. The story is based on true events, It's an endearing, sunny story and will leave you feeling good for sure.
5) Ponyo-
Ponyo is another animated Ghibli movie, this movie is a box of chocolates. If it doesn't make you go awwwwww I'll change my name, I mean it! It's about a goldfish that's also half a girl who falls for a boy, they're both 5. She has to fight her evil dad to stay on land as a human with millions of goldfish sisters. It'll literally take you to another world altogether.
6) That 70s Show-
That 70s show is SOOOOOOOO underrated and Iconic!! It's the most joyful kind of commotion you'll ever experience. There's a bunch of characters with colourful personalities and it's like a khichdi of events, but the best kind! If you like friends, the 70s, Indie aesthetic, pot and A LOT of it, friends, family, sibling clashes, quirky set of parents and last but not the least, "rock & roll, sex and pizza, in that order", you MUST watch it.
7) The Fresh Prince of Bel Air-
Fun, Family, Friends and Fashion, That's The fresh prince in a nutshell! This series is wholesome, jolly and an absolute rollercoaster! The characters are vibrant and have a world of their own, you'll be hooked once you start watching this one, there's no words to describe the experience, you just have to watch it.
8) 2 Broke Girls-
Bestfriends, Sisterhood, Cupcakes, Botox, Fashion, Sex, Entreprenuership, Amusement, Motivation, Alcohol, Dark Humour, Sass. If these words caught your attention, you've got to watch this series. It gets a little boring in between, won't lie but it's still a carefree, fun watch. If nothing caught your interest, watch it for Kat Dennings! *mic drop*
9) Gilmore Girls-
Gilmore girls is about a young mother and her daughter, both named Lorelai because Lorelai was whacked on demerol and thought if men can name their sons after themselves, why can't women? And she went ahead with it. It's got a sweet storyline and is a happy-go-lucky watch. It's very looooong and you might get bored in between but you'll be hooked by then lol. If you're into books, LOTS of food, slow-burning love stories, RomComs, quintessential y2k fashion, you should give this a go!
10) FRIENDS-
An honorary mention because the list would've been incomplete without this series! I don't know where and how to begin to describe friends to someone that hasn't watched it, It's a must watch. You MUST watch it haha!! Begin with the trailer, and let me warn you, you're going to keep coming back to this series all your life once you watch it, I mean it!
